2nd annual healing the hood event
The 2nd Annual Healing the Hood event brought together community members, volunteers, and local organizations for a powerful day of giving, connection, and empowerment. Focused on preparing students for a successful school year, the event saw an outpouring of generosity with over 600 backpacks donated, a testament to the community’s commitment to educational equity and youth support.
Of those, 400 backpacks were distributed directly to students during the event, each filled with essential school supplies to help them start the academic year with confidence and pride. The remaining bags will be used to support additional outreach efforts in underserved neighborhoods throughout the region.
Beyond the backpack giveaway, Healing the Hood featured music, food, family-friendly activities, and resources from local partners, creating a vibrant and welcoming space for healing, celebration, and unity. The event continues to grow in impact and reach, proving that when a community comes together, real change is possible.

Our GOAL

The goal of our organization is to shape young adolescents into the men and women of tomorrow, preparing them to become influential members of society who positively impact lives every day. Through our work and proposed facility, we will provide youth from impoverished neighborhoods with positive outlets, giving them better opportunities to grow into productive members of society. We offer daily activities, meals, homework help, and the technology resources they need to succeed. We provide a variety of classes, workshops, and activities in art, dance, and music. Additionally, we partner with local organizations to connect youth to qualified apprenticeships and workforce development programs. Every youth who walks through our doors will leave prepared to make better choices, feeling more refined and equipped to be the best young ladies and gentlemen of tomorrow!
